Five years have passedJoshua is married to Sarah, but their lives are far from idyllic as they tackle the everyday challenges of a young couple raising four children. Sarah has grown more irritable and targets much of her frustration at Joshua and their oldest son, Andre. Their neighbor, Rhonda has reconnected with her own son, Terence from a previous marriage, but is troubled by his past brushes with the law. Unfortunately,  both him and Andre become fast friends which doesn’t sit well with Joshua, fearful of the illicit path it could place his son on. As his own frustrations begin to mount, things suddenly get worse when he receives some unexpected news.

It is several years later. Andre, driven by personal demons and a sense of hopelessness has increased his self-destructive behavior.  To make matters worse, he works for Terence who now heads a major drug operation. Sarah is totally fed-up with him but Joshua, now a born-again Christian, still clings to hope that their son can be saved. Meanwhile their oldest daughter, Bernadette has troubles of her own which they feel helpless to do anything about. Sarah visits her estranged father, only to learn he’s been harboring a shocking secret.
